Happy New Year!

We hope you enjoyed the holidays and are as excited as we are for 2022 and what the new year may bring! We wanted to take a moment to give you a status update on our inaugural project, the new shelter for Romeo (the horse).

In our first update, we shared that all of the building materials were delivered to the farm and that we had lined up a contractor who would lay the foundation and a carpenter to build the structure. Construction was imminent, and everything was going as planned! But, as they sometimes do, a few hiccups in the plan arose. The soil conditions at the farm were not ideal for building. After considering the oncoming winter weather and how construction could affect the horse, the decision was made to put the project on hold until spring.

This decision was not made lightly. But ultimately, Romeo’s owner and head caretaker at Rivers Edge Horse Rescue & Sanctuary, Diane, thought this would be the right move, and we, of course, trust her judgment.

Though this has been a little bit of disappointment, we are excited about completing this project in the spring and look forward to providing more updates as they become available.

We have been keeping busy, though. During the holidays the Rodgers Foundation had the opportunity to make several donations to local charities and nonprofit organizations, which you can read more about here on our blog:
